Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding a piano in her attic and being awed by the sound it could produce. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music more as a hobby as a career. Thus, she began with her own music. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. Her mother had told her the songs she wrote were not meant to make her famous but instead to inspire people to realize their own value and impact to this world, she began playing them on stage.
